Most of our standard home installations fall between £899 and £1,200 fully installed, including the charger, a new dedicated circuit, testing and certification. Some properties cost more — for example where a longer cable run, groundworks or a consumer unit upgrade is needed. We provide a fixed quote after a free remote survey — or if you’d prefer an in-person site survey, we offer these for £75, fully refunded when you place your order. Most homes in the UK can have an EV charger installed. During our survey, we’ll assess your property’s electrical installation, the proposed charger location and any specific requirements to ensure the installation is safe, compliant and suitable for your home.
In most cases, planning permission isn’t required for a domestic EV charger. However, there can be exceptions, such as listed buildings or properties in conservation areas. If you’re unsure, we’ll be happy to advise before installation.
A tethered charger has a permanently attached charging cable, making it quick and convenient for everyday use. An untethered charger has a socket instead, allowing you to use your vehicle’s own charging cable for a tidier appearance and greater flexibility. The best choice comes down to your personal preference and how you use your vehicle.

Yes. Home EV chargers are designed for overnight charging and include multiple built-in safety features. Once your vehicle reaches its target charge level, charging automatically stops. Many drivers simply plug in when they get home and wake up to a fully charged vehicle the next morning.
For most electric vehicles, manufacturers recommend charging to around 80% for everyday use, as this can help maintain long-term battery health. Charging to 100% is perfectly safe when you need the additional range for longer journeys, but it isn’t usually necessary for daily driving.

Government grants change from time to time and eligibility depends on your circumstances. While grants for most homeowners have ended, funding may still be available for landlords, flat owners, apartment residents and some workplace installations. We’d recommend checking the current schemes on the official GOV.UK website — and if you qualify, let us know and we’ll be happy to advise how the grant applies to your installation.

A dedicated home EV charger is usually installed on private property where you have access to off-street parking. If you park on the road outside your home, there may be local authority solutions available, but these vary depending on your location. We’ll be happy to discuss the options available to you.
EV chargers are designed to be low maintenance, but it’s good practice to inspect the charging cable and connector regularly for signs of damage or wear. If you notice any issues or your charger develops a fault, contact a qualified installer rather than attempting repairs yourself.

It depends what you’re missing. If you’re on a smart EV tariff, a charger that can’t schedule means you’re probably overpaying for electricity — the savings from a modern smart charger can be significant. If you simply plug in and don’t use smart features, there’s less urgency. We’re happy to give honest advice either way.
